From September 28 to 30, I visited Thailand with colleagues from The University of Osaka. Over the three days, we met with faculty members and students, shared our research, and introduced graduate study opportunities in our Department of Applied Chemistry.
Our first visit was scheduled for King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT). Unfortunately, heavy rain meant that the meeting had to move online. It was a shame to miss the campus visit and the chance to meet everyone in person, but we were still able to present our research and have a good discussion.

On the second day, we visited the Department of Chemistry at Chulalongkorn University. The campus was beautiful, and I enjoyed seeing it between meetings.

We introduced our department and graduate programs to students interested in studying in Japan, and each of us gave a short presentation about our research. We also spoke with faculty members about ways to collaborate, including student exchanges and joint research.

On the third day, we visited Mahidol University’s Department of Chemistry at the Phaya Thai Campus in the morning, followed by the International College at the Salaya Campus in the afternoon. Students attended our introduction to The University of Osaka and our research talks. They asked plenty of questions, which made the sessions lively and enjoyable.

Our hosts also showed us around the research facilities—a nice opportunity to learn more about the work being done there.

We ended the day with a visit to The University of Osaka’s ASEAN Office.
The three days went by quickly. Although the rain changed our plans at the beginning, I was glad to have the chance to meet so many colleagues and students. Thank you to everyone who welcomed us and helped arrange the visits, and to my colleagues for their company throughout the trip. I hope we will have the chance to meet again, either in Thailand or in Osaka.
